Mark Millar & Netflix - Genius or Waste of Money?

This is only the third time in history a major comic book company has been purchased at this level. I’m so in love with what Netflix is doing and excited by their plans. Netflix is the future and Millarworld couldn’t have a better home.” - Mark Millar

It's official, the most controversial comic book writer since Frank Miller turned Batman on his head, has inked a deal to bring his independent comic book line to the masses via a deal with Netflix. A smart move on the part of the streaming service provider as they can't be reliant on Marvel Comics forever, and a great outlet for Millar to have more control over his properties (*cough* remember Wanted). But after the nerd jizz dries up, will this actually be a good thing?
While the House of Ideas is currently on top, their deals with Hulu for Runaways and the Freeform TV's Cloak and Dagger and Squirrel Girl show (I'm not calling that bullsh*t New Warriors...) proves that Marvel is looking to diversify beyond Netflix and ABC. Bringing in Millar also gains access to unreleased comics and stories from the creative force behind such iconic books as Kick-Ass, Old Man Logan, and Kingsman, to name a few.
First up will be Nemesis, the spiritual successor to the Kick-Ass trilogy, which is a great choice as a book that plays with the notion of heroes in villains in a much more diverse way than that sh*t show known as Iron Fist, will initiate viewers unfamiliar with more edgy comics in a way that quickly distinguishes the Millarworld brand from Disney/Marvel.
As creator and re-inventor of some of the most memorable stories and characters in recent history, ranging from Marvel’s The Avengers to Millarworld’s Kick-Ass, Kingsman, Wanted and Reborn franchises, Mark is as close as you can get to a modern day Stan Lee,” -Netflix
So what do you think? Is this a match made in heaven or Netflix overextending themselves with unknown heroes that won't make much of a splash? Be sure to comment below.
